Vestibular Rehabilitation

Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy(VRT)

Andreas also provides treatment for certain types of dizziness and balancing problems.

One very common cause of dizzy spells is Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo( BPPV ). This is due to small crystals floating around in the inner ear, causing an irritation to the nervous system, which the body perceives as dizziness.

Treatment for this condition is usually very effective using the so-called Epley Maneuver or Semont's Maneuver.

Other types of dizziness, such as vestibular neuritis, are also common, and can result in prolonged problems with balance, and even nausea. Many times, great improvements can be achieved by the use of specific vestibular rehabilitation exercises, which the patients can do in their own homes.

There are however, many causes for dizziness, and the first and foremost objective is always to accurately diagnose the problem. This is by no means an easy task, and requires special knowledge of the various processes that can cause dizziness, balancing problems or fainting spells and so forth.

Andreas carries out a meticulous examination, and will if necessary refer you to other clinicians if your problem is not manageable with rehabilitative exercises, or manual techniques.
